Dell laptop computers and Microsoft Surface laptops are available for checkout at the Library Technology Services desk on the 4000 level of the library.
A Panther Card is required to check out a laptop, as well as signing the laptop loan agreement form. The Agreement is as follows:
You are responsible for ensuring the technology item(s) is not damaged, lost, or stolen while it is checked out to you, including but not limited to accidental damage, theft, loss, destruction by fire, flood, wind or other natural causes.
A replacement fee up to and including $1000, contingent on the item, may be charged for lost or stolen equipment. Repair and replacement costs may be charged for damaged equipment based on parts and labor charges.
You may renew technology item loans online through your user account, but the item(s) must be returned to the Tech Checkout Desk on the 4th floor before your loan period ends.
Total loan period for a laptop cannot be extended past the end of the current semester.
A late fee of $10 per day will be charged to your student account for equipment kept past the due date.
To verify due date, visit library.eiu.edu and select My Account (on left); log in using your EIU Net ID and password.
At five (5) days past due, the full replacement fee will be charged to your student account. A hold will be placed on your EIU account.
Technology items are checked out on a first-come, first-served basis. Users may borrow only one (1) laptop at a time.
